Basic Machine Sewing: Reusable Holiday Gift Bags—November 3, 2026 (4:30–6:30pm)
$50.00

Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge of sewing machine operation is helpful.

ABOUT:
Simple drawstring fabric bags make the winter holidays more festive and less wasteful! Designed to be used year after year, you can make bags in any size—for jewelry, wine bottles, and on up to much larger gifts. We’ll have a wide variety of fabric colors and prints so you can coordinate your bags with your family’s style and traditions (including non-Christmas winter giving occasions).

Depending on your sewing experience, you should have time to make several bags during the class.

INSTRUCTOR:
Kay Johnson holds a BA in Theater Design and works as a Dresser & Stitcher at Shea’s Theatre, where they repair and maintain costumes. Kay was a founding partner of the Houndstooth Costume Collective, where they constructed garments from commercial and hand-drafted patterns using a variety of materials, and altered existing pieces. Kay also enjoys teaching and has led numerous classes for students of all skill levels.

SUSTAINABILITY:
Stitch Buffalo is committed to fostering sustainability practices and reducing waste in the textile industry. In this workshop, we will strive to minimize waste and work as much as possible with supplies that have been rescued for reuse.
